4 main reasons why we decided on this style of core gameplay:

1. The Pirates of the Metaverse IP depicts a great variety of characters with distinct traits, weapons, outfits, and personalities. A successful tower defense game requires continuous new unique characters to keep the game ‘fresh’ and challenging for the players, making the POTM lore a great fit for this game genre.

2. Tower defense games are easy to learn and satisfying to play. Simply destroy the enemy ‘tower’ before they advance and destroy yours. Although simple at its core, the game requires players to strategize an attack while simultaneously defending their ‘tower.’ Swift decision making, near wins or loses elevate the sense of accomplishment after a battle is won.

3. Game updates generate amazing re-playability while maintaining the core game loop intact. Changing the meta of the game by introducing new characters, heroes, obstacles and game modes can be easily achieved without ‘breaking’ the game. This is essential for the longevity of the game
